MISSION

The Polish Chamber of Shoe and Leather Industry is an industry organisation engaging in activities aimed  at supporting the leather industry since 1989.

The mission of the Polish Chamber of Shoe and Leather Industry is to create an economically and organisationally strong leather industry in Poland and to support and promote its activities on the global stage. The Chamber supports its members through cooperating with national and local authorities as well as institutions and organisations interested in development of the leather industry. We engage in initiatives aimed at protecting the domestic market against unfair competition, we popularise vocational education in the footwear sector, and we carry out extensive promotional activities in support of the Polish leather industry.

The Chamber is a member of the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC) .

We have direct access to industry-related information, studies, reports, statistical data, marketing research, business offers, as well as legal provisions and regulations.

  • The PIPS Expert Assessor Club in the following areas: footwear, tanning, fur and leather clothing, purse-making, machines and devices for leather industry, upholstery,
  • Promotional activities aimed at popularising vocational education in the leather/footwear industry, including commercials,
  • Industry-dedicated internet portal www.pips.pl,
  • Permanent statistical monitoring of the leather sector.

  • With international organisations: the European Confederation of the Footwear Industry (CEC)  with the headquarters in Brussels; permanent membership since 1999,
  • With the European Commission – as the member of the Joint Initiative on Standardisation (PAKT),
  • With organisations of entrepreneurs and employers – with the Fashion Industry Entrepreneurs’ Association Lewiatan; permanent membership since 2017,
  • With state authorities and government agencies: Ministry of Development, Ministry of National Education, the Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP), the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), the Centre for Education Development,
  • With the leather industry research-and-development units, in particular with the Institute of Leather Industry in Lodz,  the Institute of Leather Industry – Kraków Branch, as well as institutions of secondary and higher education: Kazimierz Pułaski University of Technology and Humanities in Radom, Lodz University of Technology, Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, KEN School Complex in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska,
  • With nationwide industry-related periodicals: ‘Świat Butów’ (we run a permanent information column on the pages of this monthly magazine; it is entitled ‘Wieści z PIPS (PIPS News) where we present the sector’s most interesting events), ‘Przegląd Włókienniczy – Włókno Odzież Skóra’,

CONDUCTS INTERNATIONAL PROJECTS:

  • 2017-2018 – an international research programme ‘Development of a holistic footwear concept based on user-centred design and integrated self-management tools for elderly (60+)’ with the 60+SHOE acronym in the frames of the Cornet initiative (http://60plus.pips.pl/)
  • 2015-2017 – an international educational project ‘SHOES MADE in EU: The European Shoemaker’ in the frames of the ERASMUS+ programme ‘Vocational Education Training, Action 2. Strategic Partnerships’ (http://shoesmadeineu.com/)
  • 2012-2014 – an international research project ‘Innovating Footwear Design Based on Biomechanical and
    Physiological Parameters’ with the FOOTyWEAR acronym in the frames of the Cornet initiative (http://footywear.pips.pl/),
